The School of Education and Human Services seeks to hire a full-time faculty member for the position of Assistant Professor of Education in the Teacher Education Department (Undergraduate and Graduate Education Programs).
Duties and Responsibilities:Â
The successful candidate will:Â
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in social studies methodology for Early Childhood, Childhood, and Adolescence
- Teach courses in a variety of topics in special education
- Teach various foundational education courses
- Prepare and teach courses using instructional technology for in-person, hybrid, and asynchronous classes
- Mentor students in Master’s thesis courses in action research
- Prepare students for future and current roles as social studies and/or special education teachers
- Provide academic advisement to students
- Keep current in theory and practice related to social studies and special educationÂ
- Make scholarly contributions to the education field and the University community
- Attend all School and University faculty meetings, serve on Program, School and University-wide committees
- Participate in accreditation activitiesÂ
- Collaborate with colleaguesÂ
- Create and maintain K-12 community connections
- Aid in the recruitment of students for education programs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ed.D. or Ph.D. in education or relevant field, consideration given to candidates pursuing doctoral studies
- NYS Certification in Adolescent Social Studies and Special Education
- Minimum of five years teaching in an elementary/middle/high school setting in both special education and social studies
- Strong background in teaching methods, curriculum, and assessment
- Evidence of research and scholarly publication
- University teaching experience preferred
Salary Information:
When determining the salary offer for a new employee, Molloy considers several key characteristics such as job knowledge, skills, and experience as well as internal and external equity. The hiring salary range for this position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, has a salary range of $82,500 to $85,000. This hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting. Â
