SUMMARY:
The role of the Assistant EHS Manager is to eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and / or property damage. Must apply advanced mathematical techniques; professional engineering principles, methods, and techniques; safety-related elements of the physical sciences, ergonomics, psychology and physiology; and safety principles, standards, practices and analytical techniques.Â

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Â Â
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field, or equivalent safety experienceÂ
Two (2)Â years of experience in occupational Environmental Health + Safety or a related fieldÂ
Construction industry experienceÂ
Possesses BCSP credential or equivalent Â
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulationsÂ
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measuresÂ

TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Field Inspections, Audits and Trend AnalysisÂ
Leads routine EHS inspections and project audits independentlyÂ
Verifies closure of corrective actions and ensures documentation accuracy and timelinessÂ
Analyzes inspection and audit data to identify trends and high-risk activitiesÂ
Maintains a strong field presence and reinforces standards through coaching and enforcementÂ
Safety Planning and High-Risk Work Â
Reviews and approves Pre-Task Plans, Job Hazard Analyses, and high-risk work plansÂ
Collaborates with project teams and trade partners to revise or strengthen controlsÂ
Integrates EHS considerations into construction sequencing and logistics planningÂ
Project Start-Up and Trade Partner MeetingsÂ
Leads project EHS kickoff meetings and trade partner preconstruction meetingsÂ
Prepares and submits EHS agenda content in advanceÂ
Delivers clear, effective presentations reinforcing DAVIS EHS standards and expectationsÂ
Training and Education Â
Develops and delivers Competent Person and other EHS education programsÂ
Creates and updates training content based on field conditions and risk trendsÂ
Adjusts instructional approach based on audience, experience level, and observed performanceÂ
Incident Investigation and Corrective ActionsÂ
Investigates incidents independently and performs root cause analysisÂ
Prepares formal incident reports and leads follow-up actionsÂ
Coordinates corrective action implementation with operations and EHS leadershipÂ
Project Assessments, Audits and Continuous ImprovementÂ
Produces and reviews Monthly Project EHS Assessments independentlyÂ
Coordinates with project teams to close findings and track corrective actionsÂ
Escalates systemic or recurring issues to senior EHS staff and project leadershipÂ
Supports cross-project audits and department-wide consistency initiativesÂ
Documentation, Systems and Regulatory InterfacesÂ
Uses DAVIS systems to manage inspections, incidents, permits, and logistics documentationÂ
Prepares agendas, facilitates safety discussions, and ensures meeting minutes and action items are distributed and trackedÂ
Interfaces with OSHA, insurance carriers, and third-party auditors; may lead inspections, site tours, and documentation reviewsÂ
Regulatory Compliance and Program DevelopmentÂ
Applies working knowledge of OSHA, the DAVIS EHS Manual, and contract requirements to field executionÂ
Contributes to development and revision of project- and company-level EHS policies, procedures, and training programsÂ
Supports environmental compliance and industrial hygiene activities, including air monitoring coordination and exposure mitigationÂ
Trade Partner Performance and InterventionÂ
Leads trade partner engagement on EHS performance and compliance reviewsÂ
Facilitates corrective action and intervention meetings with trade partner leadershipÂ
Reinforces accountability and continuous improvement expectations across the project siteÂ
Leadership, Mentorship and Professional DevelopmentÂ
Participates in EHS department planning, goal setting, pilot programs, and technology evaluationsÂ
Mentors junior EHS staff and interns; may supervise EHS interns and review academic deliverablesÂ
Maintains required certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, BCSP credentials)Â

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00DAVIS is committed to providing our employees with a competitive total compensation package that enhances your quality of life.
