Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Summary: 

This role focuses Fabricates, repairs, and assembles machine and tooling components using shop equipment and precision measuring instruments. Interprets blueprints and specifications, maintains safe and efficient machine shop operations, supports production and continuous improvement efforts, and ensures parts meet quality standards. Provides backup support for Manufacturing Technician duties as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts and components for tools and machinery using machine shop equipment.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, and designs sketches to determine specifications, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Selects and operates appropriate equipment to cut, shape, and finish metal, plastic, and composite materials.
  • Set up, services, and maintains machine shop equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments to verify the accuracy and quality of machined parts.
  • Assembles machined components into subassemblies or finished units as required.
  • Inspects, cleans, and recommends repairs for machine shop tools and equipment.
  • Inspects finished parts and records data to verify compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Recommends tools, fixtures, and equipment improvements to enhance fabrication capabilities and responsiveness.
  • Ensures machine shop equipment and tooling are operated and maintained in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Supports production operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluates part designs for manufacturability and recommends design improvements to simplify fabrication.
  • Cross-trains as a Manufacturing Technician to support business needs and provide backup coverage as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe machine shop and common work areas.

Education / Experience: 

  • High school level education minimum.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in a machinist position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience and/or training with machining equipment. 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical information in English, including work instructions, engineering drawings, and equipment procedures.
  • Correct interpretation of drawing GD&T; i.e., dimensions, tolerances, attributes, and common symbols. 
  • Simple math skills; Add, subtract, multiply, and divide with whole numbers without a calculator.
  • Simple computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. with the ability to learn new ones.
