POSITION SUMMARY
Supports and is responsible for the daily management of the Registration areas at Hunt Regional. Focus is placed on customer service, day to day operations, staffing, quality management and upfront (point-of-service) collections. Interpret and ensure compliance guidelines are followed according to federal regulations. Assist with special projects as needed.
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience: Three year's experience in a patient access, registration and insurance environment. Experience with automated systems.
Required Licenses/Certifications: None
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must possess good patient and customer service skills. Demonstrates leadership skills. Ability to be a motivator, initiator and "team builder". Must be able to set and achieve goals. Knowledge of Payer guidelines. Computer knowledge. Ability to operate office equipment, such as copy machines, fax machine and printers. Ability to interpret and generate written correspondence utilizing proper grammar, spelling and composition
skills. Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualification: Supervisory skills. Some college. Medical terminology.
 
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Reinforces HMHD's values and promotes HMHD's Compliance Plan and understanding of applicable laws and standards.
2. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
4. Ensures department employees attended (in a timely manner) the compliance training in accordance with HMHD policies.
5. Assists the Compliance Officer and the Executive Compliance Committee in identifying "high risk" issues within his/her department.
6. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
7. Responsible and accountable for internal and /or external customer service outcomes.
8. Demonstrate knowledge regarding the overall registration flow, to include other department modules.
9. Research and complete Unbilled Reports and Claims Rejection Reports on a weekly basis.
10. Address and return patient inquiries or concerns in a timely manner.
11. Implement strategies to reduce overall registration error rate. Generate and interpret reports to take advantage of resources.
12. Focus on constantly improving upfront collections.
13. Interpret and ensure compliance guidelines are followed according to federal regulations and payer guidelines with a focus on Registration and Collections.
14. Complete Month End duties, to include the completion of QA stats, and other pertinent information in a timely manner.
15. Assist others when questions and/or concerns about responsible areas are expressed. Works in tandem with staff as well as other departments.
16. Maintains adequate staffing and serves as back-up Registrar as needed.
17. Demonstrates an overall understanding of the Revenue Cycle.
18. Update insurance information timely and enters accurate and thorough comments on patient accounts.
19. Responsible for being "on call" for Patient Access and responding in a timely manner.
20. Resolve issues and/or concerns amicably in a timely manner. Involves PFS Leaders when needed.
21. Promote and demonstrate excellent customer service at all times with internal and external customers to include patient, family members, physicians, co-workers and all other customers.
22. Communicates effectively and expresses ideas clearly, actively listens and follows appropriate channels of communication.
23. Adaptable and responsive to change.
24. Uses time clock accurately and is punctual on a consistent basis.
25. Demonstrates a positive attitude in all assigned task and towards others.
26. Follows "Call-In" policy by notifying PFS Leader of absence.
27. Absences during evaluation period: 0-6 Occurrences = Meets Requirements. 7 or more Occurrences = does not meet requirements.
28. Adheres to hospital and department dress code. Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
29. Consistently contributes to the achievement of excellence in healthcare through the quality and caring values of the mission and vision of Hunt Memorial Hospital District.
30. Perform special duties and projects as assigned.
