About the Role:
The Finishing Foreman plays a critical leadership role in the construction industry, overseeing the finishing phase of construction projects to ensure high-quality results that meet design specifications and client expectations. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating a team of finishers, and maintaining safety quality, and production standards on-site. The Finisher Foreman ensures that all finishing tasks, such as placing concrete, finishing , cutting and curing concrete, are completed efficiently and to the highest standard. This role requires close collaboration with the Jobsite Superintendent, General Superintendent, crew members,and other crews to maintain quality and production and resolve any issues that arise during the finishing process. Ultimately, the Finisher Foreman is accountable for delivering a high quality, professional final product that meets job specifications and contributes to the overall success of the construction project.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete finishing trades within the construction industry
Experience with all types of concrete screeds (laser screeds, vibratory screeds, hand screeds).
Proven experience in a supervisory or foreman role managing finishing crews.
Experience with all types of concrete flatwork and site work.
Strong knowledge of finishing materials, techniques, and safety standards.
Basic ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications
Ability to accurately track and submit time for crew members.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in construction safety or OSHA training.
Additional training or certification in specialized finishing techniques (ACI Flatwork Finisher etc)
Prior experience working on commercial construction projects.
Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of finishing crews to ensure timely and quality completion of tasks.
Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide finishing work accurately.
Monitor work progress and quality, conducting inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project standards.
Train, mentor, and evaluate finishing team members to promote skill development and adherence to best practices.
Collaborate with senior foreman, superintendents and general superintendent and other trades to schedule work and resolve any on-site challenges.
Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and equipment usage for reporting and project tracking.
Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Skills:
The Finishing Foreman utilizes technical skills daily to interpret blueprints and ensure finishing work aligns with project specifications. Leadership and communication skills are essential for effectively managing and motivating the finishing crew, coordinating with other trades, and liaising with project management. Problem-solving skills are frequently applied to address on-site challenges and maintain workflow efficiency. Knowledge of safety regulations is critical to enforce compliance and create a safe working environment.
