Job Description

Job Summary

The Plumbing Designer is responsible for developing and coordinating detailed layouts, drawings, and technical specifications for plumbing systems within industrial and commercial facilities. This role applies established design standards, codes, and project requirements to produce accurate, compliant construction documents that support efficient project execution. The Plumbing Designer collaborates with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure quality, coordination, and alignment throughout the design process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed plumbing system designs, including water supply, drainage, venting, and specialty systems, in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Prepare and revise construction drawings, schematics, and specifications using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Interpret project requirements, specifications, and design criteria to produce accurate and constructible documents
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines (electrical, HVAC, structural, architectural) to ensure system integration and minimize conflicts
  • Review and apply local, state, and federal codes and regulations to ensure compliance in all designs
  • Perform calculations and system sizing based on established standards and project needs
  • Support project teams by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and incorporating design revisions as needed
  • Maintain organized project documentation and adhere to company design standards and procedures
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to support successful project delivery
  • Continuously improve design quality and efficiency through feedback, learning, and application of best practices
