Join Weichai America and help deliver the next generation of mission-critical power solutions. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Electric Power Generation to lead the execution of packaged generator system projects supporting data centers, industrial facilities, utilities, and other critical infrastructure throughout North America.


In this highly collaborative role, you will manage projects from customer order through commissioning and final turnover, coordinating engineering, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, installation, and field service activities. Working closely with customers, suppliers, and global engineering teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


The ideal candidate combines strong project management skills with technical knowledge of electrical power generation systems and enjoys leading complex projects in a fast-paced, growing organization.


Key Responsibilities


Project Management

  • Manage multiple power generation projects from order acceptance through commissioning and customer handoff. 
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource plans. 
  • Monitor project scope and manage changes while minimizing cost and schedule impacts. 
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery. 
  • Provide regular project updates to customers and internal leadership. 


Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Coordinate activities between customers, engineering, manufacturing, procurement, logistics, service, and external suppliers. 
  • Build strong customer relationships by proactively communicating project status and resolving issues. 


Technical Coordination

  • Review customer specifications and technical documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements. 
  • Coordinate engineering submittals, drawing approvals, equipment releases, and design changes. 
  • Support technical discussions involving generator systems, switchgear, controls, emissions systems, and balance-of-plant equipment. 


Procurement & Project Execution

  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of major project equipment. 
  • Monitor supplier performance, production schedules, and delivery milestones. 
  • Work with logistics teams to ensure equipment arrives on schedule. 
  • Support installation planning and site readiness activities. 


Commissioning & Closeout

  • Coordinate installation, startup, testing, and commissioning activities. 
  • Support field service teams in resolving technical and schedule-related issues. 
  • Ensure customer acceptance testing is successfully completed. 
  • Deliver project closeout documentation, including operation manuals, warranty information, and as-built documentation. 

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to improvements in project management processes and execution standards. 
  • Support the development of best practices for scheduling, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field. 
  • PMP certification is preferred but not required. 


Experience

  • 3+ years of project management experience supporting electrical infrastructure, power generation, industrial equipment, or mission-critical facilities. 
  • Experience managing technically complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. 
  • Experience supporting generator systems, electrical distribution equipment, switchgear, or similar industrial systems is preferred. 
  • Data center or mission-critical infrastructure experience is highly desirable. 

 

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical power generation systems. 
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, specifications, and project documentation. 
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards such as NEC, NFPA, UL, IEC, NEMA, or ASME is preferred.

  • Excellent project planning and organizational skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication 
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills 
  • Budget and schedule management experience 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and related project management tools 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment 


Travel

  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% to customer sites, suppliers, and project locations.
