Summary: The Winder Operator is responsible for supplying empty tubes and bobbins to winding machines and removing fully wound packages to maintain continuous production flow. This role supports efficient operations by ensuring proper material handling, monitoring product quality, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Essential Functions:
- Operate and maintain winding machinery in accordance with production requirements
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects in yarn and finished products
- Properly string yarn onto winder heads to ensure efficient operation
- Replace full yarn packages with empty tubes to maintain continuous production
- Accurately record production data and maintain required documentation
- Keep a clean, organized, and orderly work area
- Follow all safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic math proficiency required
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Previous experience in a similar manufacturing or machine operation role preferred
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to read, write, and understand English
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to reach in front of the body and below waist level frequently
- Ability to stoop, crouch, bend, and twist frequently
- Use of both hands for feeling, grasping, handling, and finger dexterity frequently
- Ability to visually inspect and physically detect defects in materials
- Ability to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment is an essential function of this position.
