Patient Access Advisor
Multiple Shifts Available:
- 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Includes patient scheduling responsibilities.)
- 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Rome Health is seeking detail-oriented, customer-focused Patient Access Advisors to join our Patient Access team. In this role, you will serve as a vital first point of contact for patients by ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance while providing exceptional customer service.
Please Note: In addition to the responsibilities listed below, the 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. shift is responsible for scheduling outpatient appointments and procedures, coordinating with physician offices and clinical departments, and ensuring appointments are scheduled accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients accurately and collect required demographic and insurance information.
- Explain required forms and obtain appropriate patient signatures.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits and document prior authorizations.
- Obtain or validate authorizations for scheduled procedures, including high-cost medications.
- Validate medical necessity for ordered services.
- Collect patient co-pays, deductibles, and other point-of-service payments.
- Ensure physician orders are complete and compliant with hospital policies.
- Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and payer requirements.
- Deliver compassionate, professional customer service while assisting patients and their families.
- For the 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. shift: Schedule outpatient appointments and procedures, coordinate scheduling with providers and ancillary departments, and provide patients with appointment instructions and preparation information.
Qualifications
Experience
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital, physician practice, scheduling, registration, or other healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of general office procedures and office equipment.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance verification, healthcare registration, and patient scheduling processes is preferred.
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong keyboarding and data entry proficiency.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Professional telephone and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process confidential and detailed information.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification preferred.
