Job DetailsJob Location: Corporate - Oneida, NY 13421Position Type: Per DiemSalary Range: $45.00 - $55.00 HourlyJob Shift: AnyThe Respiratory Therapist in the Extended Care Facility (ECF) assists the physician and nursing staff in providing prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities to patients, particularly those on ventilators. This role involves maintaining accurate and timely documentation of respiratory care activities, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of respiratory equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, effective communication abilities, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.   Key Responsibilities:   Assist the physician and nursing staff in providing prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities to patients, especially those on ventilators. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of respiratory care activities, adhering to JCAHO standards and departmental policies. Establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and other departments, utilizing effective communication skills. Demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving situations, particularly in the absence of supervisory personnel. Participate in the orientation, training, and education of respiratory care personnel, critical care nurses, and students. Select, assemble, and verify all respiratory care equipment for safe patient use, ensuring cleanliness and sterility. Report incidents, problems, or occurrences that may affect the department's ability to provide quality patient care services. Participate in Quality Assurance activities as required, contributing to ongoing efforts to improve patient care outcomes and safety measures. QualificationsEducation:   College degree with accreditation from a Respiratory Therapy program.   License and Certifications: NYS Respiratory Therapy License  Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician   Registered Respiratory Therapist (preferred)  Certification in adult Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire. Maintenance of BLS certification as required.   Experience: Knowledge of medical terminology. Strong organizational and prioritization skills (Required). ventilator management  Post acute care (preferred)    Required Skills and Abilities:   Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving. Capacity to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to maintaining quality patient care and safety standards. Willingness to participate in orientation, training, and education activities for respiratory care personnel and students. Adherence to regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards.   Physical Requirements:   Ability to stand, walk, and move about the facility. Proficiency in lifting and carrying equipment as needed. Fine motor skills for equipment manipulation. Visual and auditory acuity for patient assessment and equipment monitoring.
