Position Overview:

As a Forklift Operator at BWT Logistics, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our warehouse facility. Your primary responsibility will be to safely and efficiently operate a sit-down forklift to move, stack, load, and unload various materials, products, and equipment. You will collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure the timely and accurate movement of goods while maintaining high productivity and adhering to safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid forklift operator certification or license in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Proven experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse safety protocols and material handling procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and inventory records.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, standing, and operating machinery for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with RF scanner technology and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Familiarity with clamp trucks and stand-up forklifts.
  • Previous experience in transportation and warehousing industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, if required.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklifts, including stand-up forklifts, clamp trucks, and electric pallet jacks, to move materials safely and efficiently within the warehouse.
  • Load and unload trucks, ensuring that goods are handled carefully to prevent damage.
  • Use RF scanners and other warehouse technology to accurately pick orders and update inventory records.
  • Inspect forklifts and equipment daily to ensure they are in good working condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and operational efficiency.

Skills:

The required skills such as forklift operation, electric pallet jack handling, and order picking are essential for daily tasks involving the safe and efficient movement of goods. Proficiency with RF scanners enables accurate tracking and updating of inventory, which is critical for maintaining warehouse accuracy. Operating different types of forklifts, including stand-up and clamp trucks, allows the operator to handle a variety of materials and pallet configurations. General warehouse skills support the ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace, contributing to overall safety.
