Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) – High School | Full-Time FMLA Leave Coverage

Position Details

  • Position: Full-Time Speech-Language Pathologist (FMLA Leave Coverage)

  • Grade Levels: 9th–12th Grade

  • Setting: Onsite

  • Weekly Hours: 35 hours per week

  • Duration: August 10, 2026 – November 10, 2026

Caseload & Responsibilities

  • Manage a blended caseload of approximately 45 students

  • Provide direct speech-language therapy services in accordance with student IEPs

  • Support students in developing functional communication and life skills

  • Work with students with low-incidence disabilities and complex communication needs

  • Implement and support Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems

  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, families, and multidisciplinary team members

  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation

  • Utilize evidence-based behavioral strategies to support student engagement and communication

Ideal Candidate

The ideal clinician will have experience working with students who have significant communication needs and will be comfortable:

  • Supporting students with low-incidence disabilities

  • Implementing and programming AAC devices and communication systems

  • Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams

  • Providing functional communication services that promote independence and transition readiness

  • Incorporating behavioral supports into therapy sessions as needed

Qualifications

  • Active Illinois IDFPR Speech-Language Pathologist License required

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) through ISBE required

  • Previous school-based experience preferred

  • Experience with AAC and students with significant disabilities strongly preferred
