Shift: 1st;

Pay: $20-$23/hr.

Job Purpose: To operate forklifts and walkies safely and efficiently; maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping; ensure all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly; perform duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving handling activities.  Work from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders.  Always maintain forklifts and walkies safely following all safety policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pick product from inventory for order fulfillment.
  • Drive sits down forklifts and walkies.
  • Assemble individual packages into ship ready orders.
  • Move stock to proper warehouse locations.
  • Learn day-to-day warehouse operations.
  • Comply with safety guidelines.
  • Verify orders are complete and accurate.
  • Pick each customer order in the most effective manner possible to minimize shipping costs and ensure product safety.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Possess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervision.
  • General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • He / she must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Attention to detail and quality is a must.
  • Good communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skills.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed and supplying coverage to other shifts.
  • PC skills are helpful.
  • Major experience on sit-down forklift and walkie rider.
  • Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
  • Experienced in cross docking freight process.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year’s forklift driving experience in a warehouse using sit down forklifts and walkies.
  • Good stable work and attendance record.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Warehousing certifications a plus.

Language Skills Sets: 

  • Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Mathematical Skills:          

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.                                         

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to determine “root cause” of problem and determine corrective action.    

Computer Skills:        

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.                                    

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to be on foot for full shift (8 hours).
  • Must be able to work more than 8 continuous hours when required.
  • Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.

Work Environment: 

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment will range from quiet to moderately loud.
