About the role
This position is part of the Actuarial Development Program for Kuvare Corporate Management (KCM). The Program offers students an array of experiences including Life and Annuity Valuation, Modeling and Forecasting, Product Management, Asset Liability Management, and Enterprise Risk Management.  The Program is designed with the objective to develop Fellows in the Society of Actuaries.Â
What you'll do
As an employee in the Actuarial Development Program, your day-to-day activities will be dependent on the function you are supporting and are expected to change throughout your employment.  Â
Â
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited toÂ
Â
Valuation tasksÂ
- Prepare and help monitor reserve trends monthly on GAAP, statutory, and tax accounting basesÂ
- Develop management reporting for existing businessÂ
- Assist in preparation of Statutory Annual and Quarterly StatementsÂ
- Update Valuation models and organize results for management. Â
- Assist in gathering information and analysis for external auditor inspectionsÂ
Â
Pricing & Product DevelopmentÂ
- Support rate setting and other non-guaranteed elements (NGE) process; perform analysis to support business decisions, coordinate signoff, and monitor implementation.Â
- Monitor emerging product experience, manage actuarial assumptions and identifying any new risksÂ
- Coordinate and assist with cross-functional initiatives related to product development and reportingÂ
- Oversee Life and/or Annuity product illustrations; provide support to Customer Service on exemptions and escalated requestsÂ
- Develop relationships with internal and external distribution (sales) stakeholdersÂ
- Manage projects and stakeholders to promote timely and effective progress on key initiativesÂ
- Assist Pricing Actuaries in designing new products Â
- Leading cross-functional teams in education, objectives, and project decisions relevant to the productÂ
- Managing and communicating pricing risks, profitability, scenario analysisÂ
- Key contributor in implementation of product across downstream teamsÂ
- Reinsurance: developing RFP for risk sharing, analysis of existing and potential treaties, developing relationships with counterparts at reinsurersÂ
- Responsible for certifications within Actuarial Memoranda submitted to state regulatory bodies for product filingsÂ
- Support development and review of contract language and other filing requirementsÂ
- Ensure products are built appropriately in administration system and validating test casesÂ
Â
Product Management tasksÂ
- Produce, present, and improve monthly business monitoring reportingÂ
- Provide insight and analysis to enforce experience trendsÂ
- Produce monthly crediting rate package and processÂ
- Coordinate with ALM and System on data and result analysisÂ
- Assist in the development and analyze annual Illustration Actuary testing models Â
- Assist on special policy illustration requestsÂ
- Assist on Product related projects and requestsÂ
Â
Modeling and Forecasting tasksÂ
- Build and review model inputs to support financial projection capabilityÂ
- Execute and monitor model projections including troubleshooting model calculationsÂ
- Analyze model output ensuring accuracy with intended model purposeÂ
Â
Risk and Investments tasksÂ
- Update quarterly stress testing results and compare versus risk appetite and limitÂ
- Build quarter end asset model staging for production, for multiple lines of businessÂ
- Research and implement modeling of complex asset types (structured securities, hybrid securities), investment/reinvestment strategies, cash flow behaviors, and regulations in Moody’s AXISÂ
- Monitor asset and liability duration, report mismatches outside of toleranceÂ
- Prepare weekly hedging file, monitor hedge position and resultsÂ
- Assist with competitive analysis and manager performance benchmarkingÂ

Ancillary Responsibilities:Â
- Assess reasonableness of reserves as new blocks of business are acquiredÂ
- Assess product features and determine product management strategies as new blocks of business are acquiredÂ
- Build efficiencies through programming solutions in all aspects of model input and output data manipulationÂ
- Assist in the development and production of the Own Risk and Solvency AssessmentÂ
- Assess the impacts of an alternate investment or reinvestment strategyÂ
- Serve as SME to actuarial data warehouse development, operations, IT, customer support and other functionsÂ
- Assist in the development of optimization macros to improve hedging and ALM efficiencyÂ

Qualifications
AnalystÂ
- BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related areaÂ
- Proven ability to pass actuarial exams; preferably 1 exam pass achieved Â
- 0-2 years of full-time insurance actuarial experience (including prior internships).  Little prior significant experience expected, although a plus.Â
- Understanding of Actuarial software, a plus (e.g., AXIS, MG-ALFA, ARCVal)Â
Skills/CompetenciesÂ
- Strong organizational skills with elevated level of attention to detailÂ
- Demonstrated persistency and ability to deliver results under pressureÂ
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and proofreading skillsÂ
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, etc. Â
- Must be a flexible self-starter who can prioritize tasks, follow through and meet deadlinesÂ
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionÂ
- Proven track record of actuarial exam successÂ
