Environmental Technician

Who are we looking for?  

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanically skilled Environmental O&M Technician or Field Mechanical Technician to support environmental consulting projects involving Operations, Maintenance & Monitoring. This position is based out of our Rosemont (Chicago), Illinois office and involves 90+% field work.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect and maintain system components such as pumps, blowers, motors, and piping
• Replace or repair system components such as pumps, motors, valves, gauges
• Troubleshoot system performance issues
• Adjust flow rates and optimize system performance
• Perform routine monitoring and field data collection
• Prepare simple field reports
• Communicate site conditions clearly to project managers
• Oversee subcontractors
• Work outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions
• Commitment to safety utilizing a behavior-based safety culture in all aspects of the job 
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Practical, common-sense problem solver
• Able to troubleshoot pumps, blowers, piping, controls
• Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
• Hard working and dependable
• Good communicator (clients and project team)
• Able to work independently, but team-oriented
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record and reside near the Rosemont (Chicago), Illinois office
• Ability to work extended hours and travel out of town
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
• Environmental remediation experience is a plus, but not required.
• No formal degree required. Mechanical ability and work ethic matter most.
• 5+ years hands-on mechanical or industrial experience preferred
• Experience with pumps, motors, blowers, compressors, plumbing, or electrical controls
• Environmental remediation experience a plus (not required)
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER is a plus 

Salary: $23.32 - $37.02/hour, varies based on experience and location.
