  • Maintains contact with individuals and/or insurance companies regarding outstanding claims;

  • Responds to insurance company explanation of benefits

  • Appeals denials of claims in writing or over telephone; correct and rebills rejected claims.

  • Releases medical records to patient or responsible party.

  • Reviews patients medical accounts; maintains accurate records/reports in accordance to department, state and federal laws.

  • Collects fees and makes change; reconciles and balances money accounts.

  • Performs general clerical duties, such as, typing, filing, and preparing reports.

  • Develops payment arrangements with patient or other responsible party.

  • Assists walk-in patients, vendors and other department employees.  Answers incoming telephone calls and routes incoming calls. 

  • Assists other employees with duties and reviews work of other employees.

  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • 5 years job related experience.

  • Bookkeeping and accounting skills. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees an elected officials.

  • Bilingual preferred.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $18.31 - $22.89 hourly based on qualifications
