In addition, WellSpace’s crisis programs are accredited by the American Association of Suicidology and the International Council for Helplines.   Website Summary Provides oversight of nursing staff, promotes high-quality patient care, ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational standards, and supports the achievement of strategic and operational goals.   Position Summary The Manager of Nursing Programs is an experienced registered nurse (RN) who is responsible for the operational, clinical, and administrative leadership of nursing programs and services. This role works in dyadic partnership with our Clinical Director to provide oversight of nursing staff, promote high-quality patient care, ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards, and support the achievement of strategic and operational goals. The Manager of Nursing Programs fosters a culture of patient-centered care, safety, collaboration, continuous quality improvement and teamwork.   Working independently and in collaboration with providers, interdisciplinary teams, and organizational leadership, the RN Nurse Manager oversees staffing, workflow optimization, performance management, employee development, quality initiatives, and resource utilization. The position requires strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, professional judgment, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic healthcare environment. The RN Nurse Manager serves as a role model, mentor, and advocate for nursing excellence while supporting positive patient outcomes and staff engagement.   The RN Nurse Manager is an active part of the nursing team and provides direct and indirect patient care in a healthcare facility or telephonic setting. This role requires professional judgment, initiative, flexibility, and accountability, with minimal supervision. The RN prioritizes care based on patients’ physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors that affect patient flow. The role also includes communicating with and supporting primary care providers and the care team regarding changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results, and responding promptly and accurately to changes in condition or treatment response.   Required Qualifications Education, Licensure, and Experience Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with minimum three (3) years of nursing experience. Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible nursing experience, including at least one (1) year in a leadership, charge nurse, supervisory, or management role. Experience with staff supervision, performance management, quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and clinical operations preferred. Experience working within Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), value-based care models, or population health programs preferred Previous nursing experience in Primary Care, Emergency Room, or Urgent Care preferred.   Communication, Professionalism, and Technical Skills Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop multidisciplinary teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Ability to manage competing priorities, analyze operational data, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Knowledge of nursing practice standards, quality improvement methodologies, risk management principles, and applicable regulatory requirements Ability to utilize data and reporting tools to monitor quality, productivity, patient outcomes, and operational performance. Commitment to HIPAA standards, professional ethics, and patient confidentiality. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, with strong listening skills. Proficiency with general office technology, including Outlook, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Fluency in additional languages preferred. Assist and support the center, department, or program in meeting High Reliability standards. Must be willing to successfully complete the credentialing process.   Essential Responsibilities Clinical Care and Patient Safety Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, consult with specialists as needed, and adjust nursing care processes to support optimal patient outcomes. Perform all aspects of patient care in a manner that promotes patient safety and minimizes the risk of medical or healthcare errors. Accurately assign triage categories. Support and maintain a culture of safety and quality. Maintain current knowledge of medications and ensure correct administration based on the patient’s age and clinical condition. Administer and refill medications in accordance with established guidelines and protocols. Follow the seven medication rights to reduce the risk of medication errors. Demonstrate knowledge of laboratory requirements and requisitions. Patient Communication and Care Coordination Answer telephone calls professionally, refer patient concerns to the primary care clinician, and schedule appointments as needed. Inform patients of results and respond to questions according to established protocols. Review refill requests, process medication refills per protocol, and coordinate with pharmacies as needed. Serve as a liaison between providers and pharmacies regarding dosage questions, alternative medications, and related patient inquiries. Respond to portal messages requiring a clinical response, when appropriate. Complete requests from Home Health Agencies according to established protocols and obtain provider signatures when required. Review patient forms with providers, complete them when appropriate, and obtain provider signatures in accordance with protocol. Interact professionally with patients and families and involve them in developing the plan of care. Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, religious, and spiritual needs of patients and families, serving as a liaison among administration, patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers. Develop teaching plans based on identified learning needs, evaluate learning effectiveness, and include family members in education when appropriate. Documentation, Compliance, and Quality Improvement Maintain accurate, timely nursing documentation, including patient history, conditions, treatments, responses, and changes in assessment. Actively participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (QA/QI) activities. Comply with all organizational policies related to ethical business practices and communicate the organization’s mission, ethics, and goals. Maintain established outpatient clinic policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement initiatives, and safety, environmental, infection prevention, and infection control standards. Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare plans. Professional Practice and Team Support Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and provide age-appropriate care based on each patient’s status and specific needs. Attend annual reviews, department in-services, and required staff meetings. Assist with cost containment through appropriate ordering and conservation of supplies and equipment. Cooperate with staff to achieve outpatient clinic objectives and maintain positive employee relations. Support professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops, and take responsibility for ongoing professional practice and education. The physical demands described here are representative of those required for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing these duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and use their hands to handle or feel objects. The employee is also required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The position occasionally requires lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also be able to hear and speak clearly to communicate in person and by phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.   The employee may work with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances, and/or not attentive to their own health and safety or the condition of their homes. The role may involve exposure to unpleasant sensory conditions associated with substance use and lack of personal care.
