Position Summary:

The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the operational oversight, compliance, staffing, and growth of WHS mobile occupational health programs within an assigned California region. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a balance of clinical knowledge, operational acumen, and strong people management skills. The Regional Operations Manager is expected to roll up their sleeves in the field when needed while also driving program performance, ensuring service quality, and managing a team of Program Leads and field staff. This role reports to the operations leadership and serves as the primary operational point of contact for their region. Regular driving/travel throughout assigned region is required, up to 30% of working time.

 

Essential Job Duties:

 

Team Leadership & Staffing

  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and manage Program Leads and mobile field staff within the region.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development support for direct reports.
  • Assist in managing disciplinary actions, corrective action plans, and terminations in accordance with company policy.
  • Build and maintain a strong regional bench of qualified per diem and full-time clinical staff.
  • Review and approve timecards and manage scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage across all regional programs.


Operations & Program Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of all mobile programs within the assigned region, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with WHS standards.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor clinical quality, operational efficiency, and staff performance.
  • Ensure all programs are operating in compliance with OSHA regulations, HIPAA requirements, and WHS SOPs.
  • Manage vehicle assignments, equipment readiness, and supply logistics for the regional team.
  • Develop action plans for operational challenges and drive continuous improvement across the region.
  • Oversee and assist in the management of clinic finances and billing for mobile services within the region.
  • Manage travel and logistics arrangements for mobile teams and equipment deployments.


Clinical Oversight & Quality

  • Maintain hands-on clinical competency and provide direct services onsite as needed to support the team.
  • Ensure clinical staff are trained, calibrated, and performing occupational health services in accordance with WHS protocols.
  • Support the escalation and resolution of complex or outlier patient cases in collaboration with the clinical leadership team.
  • Conduct site audits and program quality assurance reviews on a regular cadence.


Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary operational contact for clients within the region, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring service excellence.
  • Collaborate with the executive team, Client Success Managers, HR, IT, and Compliance to support regional goals.
  • Assist in the implementation of new programs and service locations within the region.
  • Participate in client meetings, reporting, and escalation management as needed.


Reporting & Compliance

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of KPIs and program metrics to the executive team.
  • Maintain complete and compliant documentation across all regional programs.
  • Assist in inventory management and supply procurement for the region.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and organizational goals.


Qualifications and Education: 

  • 2–5 years of experience in occupational health, mobile medical program management, or a related healthcare operations role.
  • Clinical background required; qualified candidates will hold licensure or certification as an Athletic Trainer (ATC), Exercise Physiologist, Phlebotomist, LVN, RN, or hold equivalent operational management experience in an occupational health setting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and overseeing multi-site or mobile operations.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, HIPAA compliance, and occupational health clinical standards.
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems and operational reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, field-based environment.
  • Clean driving record required; valid California driver's license required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or business-related field preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required.


Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to stand and move for extended periods during site visits and field deployments. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires the ability to bend, kneel, and reach in various work environments. Must be comfortable working in both clinical and field settings. Requires visual acuity and hearing necessary for patient care, computer work, and client interaction.
