Roles & Responsibilities

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for supporting efficient branch operations by ensuring products are received, stored, picked, staged, and shipped safely and accurately.

This role directly impacts the customer experience through inventory accuracy, speed of service, warehouse organization, safety, and teamwork. Warehouse Associates are expected to take ownership of their work, communicate effectively, and contribute to a clean, safe, and customer-ready branch.

Receiving & Shipping

  • Receive incoming inventory accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Safely load and unload trucks, trailers, and customer vehicles.
  • Inspect incoming products for shortages, discrepancies, or damage and communicate issues promptly.
  • Properly put away inventory and maintain accurate bin locations.
  • Pick, stage, and ship customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete branch-to-branch transfers and communicate shortages or fulfillment issues.
  • Process returns, warranty items, RMAs, and restock inventory according to established procedures.
  • Protect products from damage throughout receiving, storage, picking, and shipping.

Customer Service

The warehouse plays an important role in providing Exceptional Service 

  • Treat every customer order with urgency and accuracy.
  • Ensure Will Call orders are picked and staged promptly.
  • Assist customers with loading products safely and professionally.
  • Communicate delays, shortages, damages, or order issues to the appropriate teammate.
  • Work closely with Counter Sales, Customer Service, Sales, and other branch teammates.
  • Take ownership of customer needs and help resolve issues whenever possible.

Inventory Accuracy

Every Warehouse Associate shares responsibility for maintaining accurate inventory.

  • Complete assigned cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Maintain accurate product and bin locations.
  • Research and communicate inventory discrepancies.
  • Properly process inventory movements, transfers, returns, and restocks.
  • Audit Will Call, shipping, receiving, and other staging locations as assigned.
  • Help identify and correct processes that contribute to inventory inaccuracies.

Warehouse Organization

Maintain a warehouse that is clean, organized, safe, and ready to serve the customer.

  • Keep aisles, staging areas, workstations, and loading areas clean and clear.
  • Ensure pallets and merchandise are properly stored, organized, and secured.
  • Maintain warehouse, counter, showroom, and common areas as needed.
  • Immediately address spills, debris, loose banding, shrink wrap, or other safety concerns.
  • Return equipment, tools, and products to their designated locations.

Safety

Safety is a responsibility shared by every teammate.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Use proper lifting and material-handling techniques.
  • Safely operate forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, and other equipment after completing required training.
  • Wear required PPE and safety equipment.
  • Follow established procedures for loading customer vehicles.
  • Follow ladder, equipment, and material-handling safety requirements.
  • Immediately correct or report unsafe conditions.
  • Help maintain a safe environment for customers and teammates.

Technology & Systems

Warehouse Associates are expected to effectively use company technology required to perform the role.

  • Utilize P21, WWMS handheld devices, POD/signature capture, and other warehouse technology.
  • Accurately complete transactions for receiving, picking, transferring, moving, restocking, and shipping inventory.
  • Understand how warehouse transactions affect inventory accuracy.
  • Complete required technology and operational training.

Teamwork & Accountability

  • Work collaboratively with all branch teammates.
  • Communicate professionally and proactively.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on commitments.
  • Ask questions when expectations or processes are unclear.
  • Support teammates during periods of increased customer demand.
  • Attend required branch meetings and company training.
  • Complete assigned LarsonYou training and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support customers and branch operations.
