Position Summary
The City of Roswell Fire Department is seeking highly motivated Certified Firefighter EMTs and Paramedics to join a progressive, team-oriented organization committed to protecting life and property.
This position responds to fire, rescue, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and disaster incidents. Firefighters perform fire suppression, rescue operations, emergency medical care, and related duties in high-risk and high-stress environments. Work is performed under the supervision of a Company Officer, Battalion Chief, or Incident Commander.
Firefighters must demonstrate sound judgment, physical stamina, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team.
Essential Functions
Respond to structure fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, hazardous materials incidents, and disaster operations
Perform fire suppression, ventilation, search and rescue, and salvage operations
Provide emergency medical care in accordance with State of Georgia EMT or Paramedic certification
Operate fire apparatus and emergency equipment safely and efficiently
Perform duties while wearing full PPE and SCBA in extreme environments
Maintain apparatus, equipment, and station readiness
Complete required reports and documentation (NFIRS, EMS reporting, departmental forms)
Participate in ongoing training and maintain required certifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Certifications Required:
Georgia Firefighter Certification or NPQ Firefighter I/II
Georgia EMT Certification (Paramedic preferred)
BLS Healthcare Provider
ACLS (Paramedics)
ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 (within six months of hire)
Other Requirements:
Must meet Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council requirements
Valid Georgia driver’s license (or ability to obtain within three months)
Must successfully complete:
Physical Ability Test (PAT)
NFPA 1582-compliant medical physical
Drug screening
Comprehensive background investigation
Work Schedule
This position operates on a 48 hours on / 96 hours off shift schedule (2,912 annual work hours).
This position requires emergency response status. Employees are subject to recall during declared or undeclared emergencies and may work irregular hours.
Compensation
Salary is based on certification level (EMT or Paramedic), consistent with the City of Roswell Certified Firefighter Pay Plan.
Holiday pay and applicable FLSA overtime are paid in accordance with City policy.
