Key Responsibilities

Treatment & Patient Care

  • Implement personalized treatment plans and adapt as needed
  • Select therapeutic activities to help patients meet functional goals
  • Educate and train patients and families throughout the care process
  • Provide clear discharge plans, referrals, and community resources
  • Serve as a clinical resource for staff, physicians, and families

Assessment & Planning

  • Collaborate with physicians to develop and evaluate treatment goals
  • Set realistic, patient-centered goals for therapy and discharge
  • Engage patients and families in care planning

Documentation

  • Maintain thorough, timely, and accurate documentation per guidelines
  • Complete evaluations, daily notes, family education, and discharge paperwork

Professional Conduct & Collaboration

  • Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and ethical behavior
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow attendance, dress code, and safety protocols
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with all team members
  • Participating in meetings, training, and process improvement initiatives

Customer Service & Team Culture

  • Create a positive experience for patients and co-workers
  • Follow AIDET communication principles (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You)
  • Foster a respectful, collaborative, and supportive team environment
  • Apply service recovery techniques when needed

Professional Growth

  • Stay current through continuing education and professional development
  • Maintain licensure and complete required competencies
  • Support onboarding and training of new staff

Other Duties

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
  • Adhere to all Wellstar Health System policies, standards, and code of conduct

Required Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Occupational Therapist (OT) License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from AHA required.
