JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer is responsible for leading cross-functional engineering and manufacturing projects from concept through production launch. This role ensures new products are implemented efficiently and with minimal risk by following structured project management and APQP methodologies. The position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and external partners to deliver products on time, on cost, and to customer requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead cross-functional engineering and manufacturing projects from concept through production launch using APQP methodology to minimize risk.
  • Develop and implement process plans for new products, including bills of materials (BOMs), routings, manufacturing documentation, and pre-production requirements.
  • Define and verify all technical, manufacturing, and resource requirements to ensure launch readiness.
  • Create internal production drawings using CAD and communicate clear requirements to manufacturing teams.
  • Resolve discrepancies related to drawings, specifications, and contract details that impact product fulfillment.
  • Manage and execute engineering change orders (ECOs) and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with production and quality teams to resolve inspection, verification, and manufacturability issues, including fulfillment of customer PPAP requirements.
  • Develop and manage project plans aligned with business objectives, identifying dependencies, risks, and critical paths while ensuring deliverables remain on schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with project sponsors, stakeholders, and teams regarding scope, milestones, status, and critical issues.
  • Participate in solution design, testing, training, and documentation to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of project management standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Coach and mentor team members in project management and business analysis methodologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience managing engineering or manufacturing projects within a production environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, change management, and core manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and project management software.
