Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: Building 2 - Rothschild, WI 54474Position Summary Wausau Tile is currently seeking a Test Lab Technician to support quality control operations within our concrete manufacturing facility. This hands-on role is responsible for sampling, testing, and analyzing concrete and raw materials to ensure compliance with company standards, customer specifications, and industry regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with production and quality teams to maintain consistent product quality, support continuous improvement, and ensure safe testing practices.   Key Responsibilities Collect concrete, aggregate, and cement samples from production. Perform routine laboratory including slump, air content, unit weight, temperature, and compressive strength testing for wet cast. Prepare, cure, and break concrete test cylinders in accordance with ASTM- C140 and ACI standards. Conduct aggregate testing such as gradation, moisture content, and specific gravity. Accurately record, analyze, and report test results using laboratory logs and digital systems. Perform DCOF (Dynamic Co friction of Friction) and stain resistance testing preferred. Communicate out-of-spec results promptly to production and quality management teams. Maintain laboratory equipment through routine cleaning, calibration, and inspection. Ensure testing procedures follow established quality control standards and safety guidelines. Operating test lab machines as required. Maintain organized records for audits, internal reviews, and customer inquiries. Support plant operations and field technicians as needed during peak production periods. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory and work environment at all times. Maintain a safe working environment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in construction materials or related field preferred. 1+ year of hands-on experience in a manufacturing production environment. Previous experience in a concrete testing laboratory or construction materials environment preferred. Knowledge of ASTM, and ACI testing standards preferred. ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification preferred or willingness to obtain with ACI Concrete Strength testing Technician.  Walkway Safety per ASTM F2948-13 D.C.O.F. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized testing procedures. Basic computer skills for data entry, reporting, and recordkeeping with excel and Microsoft word preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings or occasional weekends. Physical Requirements Regular standing, walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, and reaching. Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs. Repetitive use of hands, wrists, shoulders, and arms for testing procedures. Ability to work in laboratory, plant, and outdoor environments.
