Your role at Baxter

Automation engineer that supports process and automation improvements in a manufacturing site. Resource will collaborate with Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, Quality to drive improved performance on production equipment. Responsible to deliver equipment that supports process reliability, Industry 4.0 initiatives, and plant-wide efficiency and to ensure the process design and operation consistently meet Engineering/Quality standards.

What you'll be doing

  • Support operations, identifying process / controls improvements and/or obsolescence.
  • Develop strategy for improvements that align with site priorities.
  • Troubleshoots and improves automated equipment performance at the machine/system level.
  • Maps process flows and critical control points across production.
  • Owns equipment design reviews to align automation with process intent.
  • Aligns with site digital transformation.
  • Uses Lean/Six Sigma and statistical analysis to remove bottlenecks.
  • Defines inputs/outputs, materials, and tolerances for each step.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelors in Engineering, Mechanical/Chemical preferred.
  • 5-10yrs of prior experience in related field.
  • Prior manufacturing experience
  • Role is on site, full time
  • Less than 10% Travel
  • Must be able to work in a Penicillin/Cephalosporin facility
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance, safety, and validation.
  • Mechanical + controls integration.
  • PLC/HMI/SCADA awareness but coupled with equipment design authority.
  • Strong in design risk mitigation and failure mode prevention.
  • Experience in Industry 4.0 pilot initiatives (AI Vision, robotics).
  • Process modeling and statistical control.
  • Expertise in Six Sigma, DFSS, Voice of Customer.
  • Broader plant-level view of efficiency, not just one machine.

The estimated base salary for this position is $104,000 - $143,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
