Firmware Senior Principal Engineer

Responsible for designing and developing BIOS (Basic input output system) software using a range of applicable technologies (e.g., programming languages, compilers, assemblers, debuggers, Integrated test plans, Scopes, Logic Analyzers, and other tools) and state-of-the-art software engineering methodologies.

Specifically, we are seeking to improve and enhance diagnostic capabilities and recognition of failure root causes.

The role entails analyzing and changing existing code to make improvements to existing and future products. The job will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve business results in supporting our customers with resolutions to field issues.

What you’ll achieve
As a Firmware Senior Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software aligned with the customer’s business goals and needs. This includes navigating the general business environment for creating software solutions.

You will:

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works with support, engineering, and quality teams to document solutions for recurring technical issues
  • Embedded Software Development: Participates in the full lifecycle of embedded software/firmware/BIOS development, including design, maintenance, and error correction
  • Product Lifecycle & Management: Utilizes best-in-class development processes to manage and implement software products
  • Product Strategy & Documentation: Contributes to product definition, feature prioritization, competitive analysis, and technical documentation
  • Innovation & Testing: Leads idea generation and oversees testing and debugging of new or enhanced software products

Essential Requirements

  • 13+ years of related experience in a professional software role 
  • Significant knowledge of computer architecture and CPU interfaces 
  • Skills in analyzing computer systems and diagnosing problems 
  • Familiar with Dell’s Server and Storage products


Desirable Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related discipline 
     

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $208,250.00 - $269,500.00.
