Life Sciences Software Architect

Job Description: 

Provide high level, long-term technical guidance and leadership to development teams ensuring architectural integrity of the products developed for the Life Sciences industry. Analyze customer and technical requirements and produce or validate high quality designs to drive technical direction. Architect and design industrial-grade, scalable software applications using proven architectural patterns and technologies to be deployed on premise or cloud platforms. Participate in Agile planning and backlog management sessions at the program level and communicate architectural impact for products being planned. Work with stakeholders throughout the prioritization of features and translate business objectives into software constructs that span from User Experience to platform resource requirements and operations. Provide technical direction across the business covering the CI/CD pipeline, refactoring, and reducing technical debt to ensure long term product viability. Collaborate across the business unit to develop technical roadmap for products in all phases of the product life cycle. Collaborate with and mentor development teams, helping them to develop and review the right architecture or technical approach to ensure quality and fit for the DeltaVâ„¢ platform for Life Sciences. Research and provide expertise on latest technologies and complex solutions applicable to future products. Contribute to developing standards and best practices in product development using the Agile SAFe framework. Communicate technical vision to executive management. Part-time telecommuting permitted. Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.

 

Job Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus 8 years of progressively responsible experience in a software development occupation. The required experience must include the following: 

 

•             5 years of experience in software development on process automation or related products, including the development of DeltaV™ and Syncade™; 

•             5 years of experience defining and applying modern software architecture, design patterns, and frameworks; 

•             3 years of experience working in an Agile software development environment, utilizing Scrum and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies; 

•             3 years of experience applying Human-Centered Design (HCD) concepts and strategies in the development of software tools and applications for optimal user experience.

•             Domestic and international travel required up to 10% of the time.
