We're seeking a skilled and dependable Fabricator in our Roxana, IL location to modify, repair, and customize existing emergency response apparatus and equipment ā from structural fabrication and welding to full system installations on pumpers, aerials, tankers, and rescue units.

What You'll Do
- Modify, customize, and retrofit existing emergency response vehicles and equipment
- Perform structural modifications to truck bodies, compartments, frames, and mounted systems
- MIG weld (required) and TIG weld (preferred) steel and aluminum components
- Fabricate and install custom brackets, mounts, and support structures
- Install firefighting equipment including pumps, tanks, hose reels, and tool storage
- Install lighting, emergency warning devices, and electrical control systems
- Diagnose, repair, and restore structural and mechanical issues on existing apparatus
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Collaborate with Service Managers to determine repair approach and scope
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with specifications
- Document repairs, modifications, and completed work accurately Ā
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in welding or fabrication preferred
- 1ā3 years of fabrication, welding, repair, or vehicle modification experience preferred
- Strong MIG welding skills required; TIG welding preferred
- Experience with steel and aluminum fabrication in a service or repair environment preferred
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a non-standard, repair-driven environment
- Must provide and maintain a basic set of personal hand tools
- Welding certification and OSHA/general safety training preferred but not required
