Position Summary:

The E&I Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading, planning, and supervising the electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities supporting safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the paper machine. This role provides frontline leadership to E&I technicians, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and partners closely with Operations, Reliability, and Engineering to minimize downtime and improve asset performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.
  • Demonstrate safety as a core value by actively promoting and enforcing safe work practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety standards.
  • Ensure all E&I work complies with OSHA, NFPA, company policies, and mill safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety observations, job safety analyses (JSAs), and incident investigations as required.
  • Ensure contractors comply with site safety and electrical standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize E&I maintenance activities to support production goals.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and repair of electrical, instrumentation, DCS, PLC, and drive systems.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Partner with Reliability and Engineering to identify and eliminate repeat failures.
  • Participate in outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews.
  • Maintain electrical drawings, loop sheets, PLC backups, and calibration records.
  • Support continuous improvement of maintenance systems, standards, and procedures.
  • Work closely with Operations to align maintenance priorities with production needs.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Maintenance, Engineering, and Reliability teams.
  • Communicate maintenance status, risks, and constraints to leadership.

Required Experience:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Industrial Technology, or related field, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance in a paper mill or heavy industrial environment.
  • and prior experience leading or supervising maintenance personnel preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • Electrical distribution systems
  • PLCs, DCS, and process control systems
  • Instrumentation, drives, and automation
  • CMMS systems
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations, electrical codes, and safe work practices.
  • Preferred experience working in a union manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting paper machine operations
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), TPM, or Lean maintenance principles.
  • Experience with outage planning and execution.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
