We are seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our Rumford team. This role is critical in ensuring environmental compliance while advancing sustainability initiatives across our operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all work is executed safely and in compliance with company standardsÂ
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, and evaluate regulatory changes for operational impactÂ
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems to enhance compliance, sustainability, and operational efficiencyÂ
- Lead environmental projects including waste management, air and water quality improvements, and pollution control initiativesÂ
- Drive sustainability initiatives, including resource conservation, energy efficiency, and reduction of environmental impactÂ
- Provide technical guidance and support to operations on environmental engineering matters and best practicesÂ
- Develop and deliver training programs to promote environmental awareness and compliance across the organizationÂ
- Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies, environmental groups, and community stakeholdersÂ
- Prepare and manage regulatory reporting, permits, and licensesÂ
- Support chemical approval processes and product stewardship programsÂ

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fieldÂ
- 5 plus years of environmental engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or leadership roleÂ
- Experience in paper manufacturing or industrial environments strongly preferredÂ
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA)Â
- Experience with environmental management systems and related softwareÂ
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsÂ
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive environmental and sustainability initiatives
