Master Scheduler

Since 1973, Taber Extrusions has been a leading manufacturer of aluminum extrusion-based products for OEMs in markets ranging from Military, Department of Defense, Aircraft/Aerospace, Marine/Shipbuilder, Boat Docks, Platforms, Decking, Motor Housing, Electronics, Heat Sinks, Automotive, Rail, and Structural Components. Taber is headquartered in Russellville, Arkansas and operates two manufacturing sites in Russellville and one manufacturing site located in Gulfport, Mississippi. The Company is segmented into five operating units; Extrusion, Cast House, Fabrication, Friction Stir Welding and Micro Extrusion. Taber has continued to make ongoing investments in their value-added capabilities by recently expanding their Russellville facility to house their new friction stir welder and new state of the art 10,000-ton press with 16" container designed for larger, complex profiles with tighter tolerances for the aerospace, defense, and heavy industrial customers.

Job Summary

A Master Scheduler coordinates, plans, and manages production scheduled to ensure efficient operations, resource optimization, and timely delivery of products.  The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining detailed production schedules that align with company goals and operational capacity, including the timely delivery of raw materials to support production requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update press schedule to reflect current line-up.
  • Update completed jobs for the past 24 hours to determine re-runs and material shortages.  Complete jobs in Plex as inventory and complete releases allow.
  • Update raw material requirements to Indicate remaining requirements on the schedule and available inventory and raw material received.
  • Examine raw material receivers and enter lbs. received against P.O.’s.
  • Identify scrap shipments in PLEX and on the inventory report for Wednesday inventory meeting.
  • Maintain communication with raw material vendors to ensure available material and pick-up dates.
  • Calculate available raw material and schedule P.O.’s for upcoming orders.
  • Maintain communication with sales for job cancelations and changes.
  • Schedule jobs for newly entered releasees in Plex and Epics.
  • Update and complete parts in the workflow.
  • Setup routings for new parts in Plex or create new parts as needed to cover orders.
  • Plan production RFQ’s as needed.
  • Create Press Process Sheets in Plex for upcoming jobs.
  • Calculate inventory numbers for morning meetings.
  • Maintain communication with Gulfport to facilitate scrap shipments.
  • Plan monthly raw material requirements and submit P.O.s for raw material.
  • Track scrap inventory and numbers.
  • Track inventory overages and move to scrap status as necessary.
  • Plan and complete inventory cycle counts.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED or one – three years related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
