Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant equipment and systems. This position plays a key role in ensuring the continuous and safe operation of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in aluminum processing. The technician will troubleshoot issues, complete repairs, and maintain records in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements. 



Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on plant equipment including furnaces, cranes, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
  • Replace or repair faulty components such as motors, bearings, and wiring.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed according to safety and quality standards.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and diagnose root causes.
  • Work with other technicians and operators to restore equipment to service quickly.
  • Document actions taken and provide recommendations for long-term solutions.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Team Leader or Manager as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and audits as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Complete maintenance records, including work orders, inspections, and parts used.
  • Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to log activities.
  • Provide feedback on recurring issues and suggest process improvements.

 

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or electronics is preferred.

 Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience in aluminum processing or heavy equipment maintenance is a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in industrial environments with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery. 
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces. 
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and respond to after-hours calls. 

 

Work Environment

  • Industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to mechanical systems, tools, and equipment. 
  • Use of PPE required, including gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection. 
  • This will be 12 hour shifts in a 2-2-3 pattern - 7pm-7am. No rotating shifts.
