The Staff Pad has partnered with a hospital in Russellville, Alabama to find a Respiratory Therapist. 


Location: Russellville, Alabama
Reports To: Director of Respiratory

Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality, compassionate respiratory care to patients across all age groups. This role is responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as ordered by physicians, ensuring accurate assessments, and supporting overall patient respiratory health. The therapist works collaboratively with the care team and demonstrates strong clinical judgment, communication, and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform respiratory assessments, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy, EKGs, and blood gas sampling (arterial and capillary).

  • Initiate, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation.

  • Deliver emergency respiratory interventions, including CPR.

  • Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on respiratory equipment.

  • Accurately document all patient care and procedures.

  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure adequate department supply levels.

  • Assist in onboarding and training new staff.

  • Participate in performance improvement activities, required trainings, and departmental meetings.

  • Provide culturally competent and age-appropriate patient care.

  • Take call as needed and assist during high census or staffing shortages.


Qualifications

  • RRT or CRT (or eligible) required; must obtain full credentialing within 24 months if eligible.

  • Current BLS required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred.

  • Minimum 6 months of hospital respiratory therapy experience preferred.

  • Strong clinical assessment and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced clinical environment.


Working Conditions

  • Moderate physical demands with exposure to typical hospital environments, including potential contact with bloodborne pathogens.

  • Requires standing, lifting, and use of respiratory equipment.
