Sonic Summary

The Coder/Abstracter is responsible for accurately assigning codes to inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses and procedures based on patient medical records.
The role requires familiarity with classification systems such as ICD-10-CM and CPT 2005 edition, adhering to official coding guidelines from recognized associations.
All coding work is conducted in compliance with the policies and procedures of the Health Information Management department and CHS.
The position involves interaction with physicians, patients, and family members as necessary.
Candidates must hold a current RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification and typically require at least two years of experience, with a salary range of $50,000 to $70,000.

The Coder/Abstracter is responsible for accurate code assignment of all inpatient, outpatient, and emergency service diagnoses, procedures and conditions as indicated in the patient medical record. Classification systems include ICD-10-CM and CPT 2005 edition, and all coding is in accordance with official coding guidelines from the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association, and the Health Information Management Association. All work is carried out in accordance with the Health Information Management department and CHS approved policies and procedures. Population served: Interact with physicians, patients and family members as needed.
