The Welder will weld metal components and equipment according to blueprint specifications and fitter layout using oxy/acetylene and plasma cutting processes.  Will prep parts, drill holes, deburr parts, and use the plate shear and Ironworker.  This role will also adjust amperage, current and gas flow according to the material being welded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Intermediate level concept of the GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW welding processes.
  • Weld in position all metal components and equipment.
  • Set up components and equipment to be welded.
  • Maintain a high level of weld quality by following QC standards/policies.
  • Adjust amperage, current, and gas flow according to the material being welded.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices and standards.
  • Adhere to and actively promote the ANDRITZ 8 Life-Saving Rules in all work activities.
  • Consistently embody and promote the #1ANDRITZway core values and behaviors, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education, Licenses, & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

  • Welding experience, including MIG, flux-core, stick, pulse arc, stitch pattern, and tack welding.
  • Experience welding carbon steel and stainless steel in both in-position and out-of-position applications.
  • Experience reading and interpreting prints.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Good mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry, with a willingness to continue learning and improving.
  • Good knowledge and accurate use of common tools, including tape measures.
  • Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of PPE requirements and safe work practices.
  • Good communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and interact professionally with all levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrates behaviors that support a safe working environment.

 

Other Valued Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Certification of completion of welding classes or trade schooling preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Mobility: Required to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, walk, climb, balance, and work at heights using ladders or manlifts.
  • Manual Dexterity: Required to use hands and arms to reach for objects, and must have the ability to use close vision, peripheral vision, and adjust focus.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Environmental Factors: Majority of work is performed in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment; may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, electricity, and moderate noise levels.
