Brief Description
Use knowledge of welding techniques and processes, metallurgical and material types, material cuttingÂ
processes (oxy/acetylene and plasma), weld symbols, and engineering blueprints to accomplishÂ
production goals. The Fitter will lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according toÂ
specifications using typical or common fabrication tools (tape measure, tri-square, etc.) and welds.
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
• Utilize blueprints to fit up and fabricate metal components and equipment
• Tack weld, or weld components and assemblies using GMAW, SMAW, and FCAW weldingÂ
processes
• Perform first order inspection to ensure accuracy and dimensions meeting quality standards
• Use of jib and overhead cranes to move assembled parts
• Demonstrate safe working practices and standards

Qualifications (Required)Â
• High school diploma/GED
• Beginner to intermediate experience in welding, metal fabrication, and fitting
• Good mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry); willingnessÂ
to learn and improve math skills
• Knowledge of Oxy fuel and hand plasma cutting
• Ability to operate saw, cold saw, shear, and punch press
• Good knowledge and use of common and typical fabrication tools
• Good communication and organizational skills with a willingness to work with others; ability to interactÂ
professionally and positively with all levels of personnel in the company
• Knowledge of production and manufacturing in a sheet metal facility
• Demonstrate qualities that support a safe working environment
• Majority of work is performed in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment; exposed toÂ
moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, and electricity in the manufacturingÂ
areas, noise level is usually moderate to high
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; must have ability to use close vision, peripheralÂ
vision, and adjust focus; required to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, walk, useÂ
hands and arms to reach for objects, carry, climb, balance, speak, and hear
