ME363 - Full-Time Mother's Helper/Family Assistant - Rye, NY

Overview

A warm, active family in Rye, NY is seeking a reliable, energetic, and proactive Family Assistant/Mother's Helper to work alongside the mother in managing the afternoon and evening needs of their busy household. The family has three school-aged children—two daughters, ages 11 and 9, and a 7-year-old son—who attend three different schools and have active schedules involving sports, piano lessons, playdates, and other activities.

This is an excellent position for someone who enjoys working with older children and is equally comfortable helping with household tasks. The candidate will truly act as an extra set of hands and partner to the mother, particularly during the busy after-school hours when the children are often heading in different directions.

The family employs a professional cleaning crew twice per week, so deep cleaning is not required.

Location: Rye, NYSchedule: Monday–Thursday, 12:00pm–8:00pm; Friday, 12:00pm–5:00pmChildren: Three children, ages 11, 9, and 7

Responsibilities

Household Support – Approximately 12:00–2:30pm

• Handle family laundry, including washing, folding, and putting items away
• Keep the kitchen and main living areas tidy and organized
• Maintain the first-floor family spaces between professional cleanings
• Help prepare for dinner according to the family's established weekly menu
• Complete very simple meal preparation, such as defrosting ingredients and preparing sheet-pan meals
• Assist with general household organization and light daily upkeep
• Let the family's 20-pound hypoallergenic dog into the backyard for a brief midday potty break as needed

Childcare & Afternoon Support

• Assist with school pickups from the children's three different schools
• Coordinate closely with the mother to divide pickups and afternoon responsibilities
• Drive children to and from sports, piano lessons, playdates, and other activities
• Help keep the children's busy schedules running smoothly
• Supervise and engage with the children as needed
• Assist with the children's evening routines
• Work collaboratively with the mother, particularly when multiple children need to be in different places at the same time

• The family would ideally like someone who can stay later approximately one evening per week so the parents can have a date night.

  There is also potential for additional hours over time for a candidate who would like a fuller schedule. Flexibility is appreciated, as children's sports and activities may occasionally run later in the evening.

  Occasional travel with the family may be offered, particularly when one parent is traveling, but travel is not required.

Requirements

• Prior professional nanny, family assistant, or similar private household experience
• Experience working with multiple school-aged children
• Valid driver's license and strong driving record
• Confident and comfortable driving children to multiple schools and activities
• Highly organized and able to manage changing schedules and competing priorities
• Proactive and willing to jump in wherever needed
• Comfortable working collaboratively alongside an involved parent
• Comfortable with family laundry, light household upkeep, and very basic meal preparation
• Comfortable around a small dog
• Reliable, punctual, flexible, and communicative
• Energetic and able to keep pace with an active household
• Legally able to work in the United States

Salary and Benefits

• $35-$40/hr + benefits
