Description

Under general supervision and in collaboration with relationship management team, maintains a commercial loan portfolio of secured and unsecured loans and lines of credit; provides a superior level of customer service to all current and prospective customers and tracks a variety of systems to ensure compliance with the loan agreement covenants. Employees in this job class handle routine to complex types of loans and retain current customers. 


Essential Functions

  

1. Portfolio Management/Credit Analysis

  • Works as part of a relationship management team to share responsibility for the largest, and most complex portfolio within Commercial Banking. Assists Relationship managers with portfolio management, partner collaboration, and client engagement      to develop and grow new and existing commercial business relationships. Provides consistent, high quality, and professional service to clients. 
  • Collaborates with Relationship Manager to negotiate and structure new and renewed commercial loans; makes recommendations on loan structure and terms to next appropriate level of authority. Reviews and analyzes financial data and other relevant information to determine each customer’s eligibility for credit within established underwriting standards and lending policies. Accountable for application and underwriting quality. 
  • Follows up on current credits to ensure compliance with terms and conditions, reviews collateral reports to ensure margin requirements are maintained, assesses transaction risk, assigns appropriate risk rating, and takes appropriate action to      collect any delinquencies. 
  • Serves as a mentor and provides consistent training and feedback Credit Analysts and Credit Associates to help maintain a risk-focused approach to credit analysis. Identify and recommend strategies to mitigate portfolio risk.
  • Ensures that all approved Credit Authorizations succinctly and cogently address the key credit issues.
  • Identifies and takes appropriate action in a timely manner to improve the Bank’s position with regards to problem loans in      assigned portfolio. 
  • Meets at least quarterly with CEO, CCO, and Commercial Banking Director to discuss the existing risk rating on all significant      loan relationships and takes appropriate relationship action to mitigate identified risks. 

2. Compliance/CRA

  • Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship complies with established credit policy, procedure, and business strategy, as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines. 
  • Participates actively in community activities to enhance the bank’s image, visibility and to reinforce the Bank’s commitment to CRA.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of bank regulations. Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and bank policies, procedures, and regulations. 

Requirements

  1. Bachelor degree in business and/or finance from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.
  2. Minimum of five years proven and progressive experience in in commercial lending with prior experience as a Portfolio Manager, Commercial Underwriter / Analyst, or Relationship Manager. 
  3. Strong analytical skills and credit acumen, including but not limited to loan structuring, concise underwriting, appropriate risk identification and mitigation, and ongoing risk and relationship management of a commercial portfolio.
