Description

Balanced body is hiring! We are seeking an experienced Accounting Payroll Specialist to join our company’s accounting team. The responsibilities of the position include all aspects of payroll processing for 400+ employees, recording and reconciling payroll and related activity, miscellaneous reporting, and general team support where and as needed.


To be successful in the position you will be able to meet deadlines, demonstrate great attention to detail and consistency in following process, and work well in a team environment. The individual we are seeking will be an excellent communicator and be process oriented.


You will be working with other accounting professionals and should be comfortable in a fluid environment where priorities could shift on occasion. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an industry leader that is strong, stable, growing, and environmentally sensitive.


Areas of Responsibility:

  • Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls accurately and timely for 400+ multi-state employees
  • Process monthly payroll accurately and timely for 1 international location
  • Audit timecards and communicate with leaders on corrections
  • Coordinate payroll software updates
  • Coordinate setting up new states for payroll processing
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local tax laws
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll records, reconcile reports and resolve complex payroll errors or discrepancies
  • Track leave of absences and benefit payments
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues
  • Process manual checks (e.g. adjustments, final checks, etc.) as required
  • Generate draft calculations for commissions, incentives, and bonus programs according to defined calculation processes set by the Company
  • Communicate regularly with Human Resources and employees, supervisors/managers
  • Support our accounting team, to include AP/AR as needed.
  • Collect sales tax exemption documents and track in Avalara software
  • Maintain G/L reconciliations for payroll, benefits, PTO accrual and related activities, and other accounts as assigned
  • Generate draft journal entries to record payroll and related activity for review and posting in
  • Generate and distribute periodic reports for management review
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Payroll Practitioner Certificate preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant payroll experience; manufacturing is a plus!
  • Solid understanding of payroll best practices and employment laws and regulations.
  • Multi-state payroll experience is required.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (i.e. Paylocity) and intermediate/advanced excel skills.
  • Knowledgeable with accounting software (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Ability to manage high level sensitive confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates strong Excel skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, with an ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
