CASHIER

Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, Recreation Specialist, and Pool Manager, or Senior Lifeguard, responsible for operation of front office area of a community aquatic facility including program registrations, deposits, phone inquiries, and concession sales.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accepts registration fees and registers patrons for programs using the ACTIVE Network recreation registration software.

Operates a cash register, accepting monies for public swim and concession sales. Makes change and performs basic mathematical computations accurately.

Accounts for daily revenue in registers and performs daily reconciliation of cash received. 

Provides general information to the public regarding hours, registration, special events, District programs, and costs. 

Prepares and maintains records and reports such as concession sales, District program registrations, and daily admissions.

Greets public, answers telephones, and provides information to public or directs them to proper office as scheduled.

Communicates effectively and tactfully with participants and parents or guardians.

Follows oral and written instructions.

Works harmoniously and cooperatively with fellow employees and the public.

Prepares and maintains files and reports for concession sales, daily admission and swim lesson registration.

Provides general information to the public regarding hours, registration, special events, District programs, and costs.

Prints rosters and reports for instructors.

Performs administrative tasks, such as completing accident/incident reports 

Provides general office support and performs tasks using basic computer skills.

Performs basic office work and maintains office area in a neat and orderly condition.

Keeps track of office supplies and notifies supervisor when any purchases need to be made.

Attends staff training throughout the spring and summer.

Assists in general upkeep of pool and office area and surrounding facility.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Ability to:   Understand and follow oral and written instructions; work harmoniously and cooperatively with fellow employees and the public; operate a cash register, make change, complete daily reports and paperwork; and perform basic mathematical computations accurately.   Establish and maintain positive relationships with the public and other employees.

Knowledge of and Skilled in:   Clerical office procedures; conducting office operations of the swim facility; basic cash handling principles; use of computer for registration procedures. 

Physical Requirements:   Must be able to perform physical labor, lift, carry, push and pull heavy objects, walk, stand, stoop and crouch for long periods; and climb ladders. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.   

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be at least 16 years old.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES                

American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate - highly desired

EMPLOYMENT LENGTH

Employment may be offered on a part time basis during March.  Beginning in June, employees will be expected to work 30-40 hours per week for the entire season which runs from June through September.  As a condition of employment, may be required to work a variety of hours including evenings, weekends and holidays and participate in regular in-service trainings throughout the aquatic season. The aquatics season runs during the following dates, beginning in 2025:

-Winter/Spring hours: February - May

-Summer hours: End of May - End of August

-Fall hours: September - October

COMPENSATION       $16.50 - $17.00 per hour                                       

STATUS                         Part-time; Non-Exempt.
