Position Summary:
Assists one or more Early Childhood teachers in the education, care, supervision, and instruction of pre-school aged children, in classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds at a center dedicated to pre-kindergarten children, and in the community. Maintains and prepares classroom and related environments, materials, and control of forms. Assists in developing play-oriented curriculum.

Salary: $19.61 - $25.94 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on relevant experience.
Location: Morey Avenue
Hours: 7 hours/day; 5 days/week
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Employee Life Insurance available for employees who work 4+ hours per day (Full district contribution for 6+ hours/day; 50% contribution for 4-5.99 hours/day).

Education and Experience: 
Requirements for ECE Paraeducator positions under the Federal Head Start Program; 6 college units of Early Child Development, Early Childhood Education or other related field with emphasis on infant to pre-school age children, High School Diploma or equivalent and a California Associate Teacher Permit (Referred by Federal head Start as “Child Development Associate Credential”) or Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Licenses and Certifications: 
May require a valid driver’s license. Certificate or permit required as defined in the Child
Development Permit Matrix established through the California Department of Education. CPR/First Aid certificate with pediatric endorsement.

Documents (all of the following documents are required for this position):

  • Certification (California Associate Teacher Permit or AA Degree or Higher)

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (With pediatric endorsement)

  • NCLB Compliance (48 college units (semester) or pass the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam)

  • Proof of HS Graduation (High School Diploma, High School Transcripts or Equivalent (ex: GED))

  • Resume (Provide clear evidence of required experience)

  • 6 ECE Units
