Job DetailsJob Location: 10123 - GSA Sacramento Sacramento CA - Sacramento, CA 95814Salary Range: $1.00 - $1.00 SalaryJob Title: Journeyman Stationary Engineer Department: GSA Sacramento JOB SUMMARY  Maintain, repair, install and operate Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment and related systems to include HVAC controls Maintain and test electrical and power systems--Perform maintenance and repair on secondary electrical systems and components Perform maintenance and repairs on plumbing systems Assist with planning repair and replacement projects for various projects as assigned Perform routine building inspections, maintenance and repairs Perform work IAW weekly work schedules and pertinent technical guidance Perform Customer Service function for various project sites in Sacramento Perform Quality Control Inspections and generate appropriate forms and reports ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on various types of HV AC and electrical equipment Maintain, disassemble. repair. overhaul, assemble. install and clean pumps, motors, controls, valves, burners, compressors, filters, dampers, pipes, belts, ductwork, boilers and hot water heaters Operate installed HVAC, electrical and electronic equipment and systems Perform assigned recurring work IA W the projects Preventive Maintenance Program. Assist Chief Engineer in developing repair and replacement projects Perform facility assessments and generate thorough reports for Chief Engineer or Project Manager May be tasked to work beyond normal duty hours or holidays and weekends and standby May be tasked to perform as a Quality Control Inspector for work being performed by others   QUALIFICATIONS Five years' experience working with HVAC and electrical equipment and systems Working knowledge of power production and plumbing systems highly desired Possess in-depth knowledge of chillers, pumps, motors and fans operation Must be able to interpret basic mechanical and electrical blueprints to facilitate troubleshooting Must be familiar with basic carpentry work to include doors and hardware repair and adjustments Must be adept in working with hand and power tools Working knowledge and basic computer skills- able to use Microsoft Office Products Must be able to perform basic Quality Control procedures EDUCATION Satisfactory completion of 4-year Stationary Engineer's Apprenticeship Program with local union or equivalent. Completion of Electrical, Mechanical & Technology course administered at a local City College or technical institution also a plus. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: EPA Universal Certification to work with refrigerants is required for this position. Must possess this certificate within six (6) months of employment. NATE certification is a plus. WORK EXPERIENCE Five years of related work in the maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical and power production systems Experience with pneumatic and Direct Digital Control system is highly desired Experience with Quality Control procedures and processes is a must for this position Experience with basic carpentry and door locking mechanisms will be very advantageous to successful applicants KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Must be able to read, understand, speak and write English fluently Computer skills are highly desired to facilitate labor reporting, job completion and assistance in planning new projects A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is highly desired Must be able to work capably with hand and power tools Must possess ability to reason and troubleshoot complex HVAC system problems Knowledge of Quality Control methods and processes is a must PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds is desired. Ability to climb ladders is necessary for successful troubleshooting of plant equipment. Must be able to work on roofs of buildings as many HV AC units in these facilities are Roof Top Units. Must be physically capable of traveling between buildings for routine work rotations and to other project sites as directed on a regular basis. Must have the ability to maintain assigned working hours. Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over a long period of time. WORK ENVIRONMENT The environment will be both inside and outside the facilities, or in the office at a computer and out of the office inspecting, maintaining, operating and repairing equipment between buildings.
