Their primary responsibilities include diagnosing and treating illnesses, infections, and injuries in young patients. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner monitors the growth and development of children, ensuring they meet appropriate milestones. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner also provides preventive care, including vaccinations, health advice, and guidance on nutrition and safety. The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner educates parents and caregivers on managing various aspects of a child's health. Additionally, The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner often coordinates with other healthcare professionals to address complex medical conditions and provide comprehensive care.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Listed below you will find essential duties and responsibilities to successfully perform this job. Identifying and managing acute and chronic medical conditions in infants, children, and adolescents. Performing physical exams, monitoring growth and development, and assessing overall health. Providing immunizations to prevent common childhood diseases. Offering guidance on nutrition, exercise, and safety to promote healthy lifestyles. Sharing information on child health, development, and behavior, and advising on common parenting challenges. Developing and implementing treatment plans for ongoing health issues like asthma, diabetes, and allergies. Coordinating care with other healthcare providers for specialized treatments or complex medical conditions. Ordering and analyzing lab tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic tools to aid in diagnosis and treatment. Offering initial treatment and stabilizing young patients in emergency situations. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date health records for each patient. Ensuring accurate coding of diagnoses and procedures for insurance claims and billing purposes. Communicating with nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive patient care. Staying informed about and adhering to healthcare laws, regulations, and best practices. Keeping up with medical advancements and maintaining licensure through ongoing education and training. Overseeing the work of medical assistants, nurses, mid-level practitioners, and other support staff. Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and practice efficiency. Managing patient inquiries, providing test results, and offering follow-up care instructions. Perform other duties as assigned by management QualificationsQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE A master’s degree in Nurse Practitioner from an accredited institution or equivalent A board certificate through a recognized body, such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) A Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate A National Provider Identifier (NPI) Number A Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate One year of experience in pediatric outpatient setting  SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE Proficiency in conducting physical exams, diagnosing illnesses, and performing medical procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to diagnose and treat patients effectively. Ability to build rapport with patients and work collaboratively with healthcare professionals. Efficient time management skills to handle a busy and varied caseload. Ability to provide empathetic and compassionate care to patients Effective problem-solving skills to address complex patient needs and healthcare challenges. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare technology. In-depth understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology. Comprehensive knowledge of primary care practices, including preventive care, chronic disease management, and health promotion. Expertise in managing health issues among pediatrics patients Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA), and ethical standards. Familiarity with evidence-based clinical guidelines and best practices. Understanding of public health principles and community health issues. Detailed knowledge of medications, including indications, contraindications, side effects, and interactions. Proficiency in ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging studies. Knowledge of effective patient education techniques and resources. Understand health informatics and the use of technology in healthcare to improve patient outcomes. Continuing Education and Professional Development Commitment to lifelong learning through continuing education courses, conferences, and workshops. Regularly renewing certification and staying current with recertification requirements.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT   The work environment is characteristic of a clinical environment.
