About the Job:

Title of the Position: Systems Admin II (Full Time)

The Systems Administrator II plays a key role in managing and maintaining complex technical systems, including on-premises and cloud-based services. This position supports daily IT operations and oversees various services provided by the System Services team. These services include application hosting, productivity tools, cybersecurity infrastructure support, and second-level technical assistance.

Under the supervision of the Systems Services Manager, the Systems Administrator II ensures the efficient operation and reliability of critical IT services. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on one more technology platform owned by the IT Operations teams.
  • Produces system upgrade roadmaps for assigned technology platform(s) and executing plans.
  • Produces, tunes, configures, patches, and upgrades the operating systems of Servers and Workstations.
  • Assesses system performance and reports to management.
  • Monitors System backups, performs data restores and performs troubleshooting as needed.
  • Assesses the hardware and software vendor and third-party hardware and software and reports significant findings to the System Services Manager.
  • Produces Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) utilized by the System Services Team and Technical Support Services Team (TSS).
  • Performs maintenance and troubleshooting on systems and workstations.
  • Develop scripts to install applications, patches, and other routine maintenance tasks on Servers and Workstations Develops and executes plans to ensure assigned systems are patched and compliant with approved software versions.
  • Provide end-user support by following IT established Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • May be assigned as an IT Process Lead within the System Services team.
  • Serve on Project Teams as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for respective areas of responsibilities in the System Services Team.
  • Furnishes technical assistance in system disaster planning and recovery.
  • Develops and maintains system problem analysis and resolution techniques; examines and resolves system problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Defines development tools and procedures for daily operational support; upholds application activities that require specialized system programming.
  • Helps with software product evaluation, including installation, testing, and technical support; supports applications and operations with technical consultation and specialized programming.
  • Maintains contact with applications and technical support personnel from computer vendors and other enterprises; provides contacts within the enterprise with the help desk, with application and operations staff, and occasionally with enterprise personnel outside of IT for trouble shooting and the development of specifications.
  • Furnishes planning and technical support for enterprise installations both in central and in the remote facilities; provides network support for operations and the computing environment of technical support.
  • Serves as a member of various employee committees; coordinates activities with other departments and work groups as needed.
  • Provides backup for related positions as needed or assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with two (2) years related experience and/or training; or six (6) years related experience and/or training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, co-workers and vendors.
  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: Must be able to operate a personal computer and other various standard office machines and equipment necessary to complete duties. Must have considerable knowledge of system management including system configuration, troubleshooting, security, resource monitoring, and the development of specialized programs. Must have knowledge of, Networking management, TCP/IP, DNS management, Email infrastructure management, Active directory.

Requirements:

  • Certificates/Licenses: Certifications from Systems Administrator I plus:
  • Required: Microsoft:MS-900
  • AWS: Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator/Architect
  • CompTIA: Security +
  • Microsoft: AZ-900, SC-900
  • VMware: VCTA-DCV, VCP-DCV
  • Must live or willing to move to Sacramento Metropolitan Region (Approx. 40 miles’ radius)
