Role Summary The Principal Mechanical Engineer  is a senior technical leader within Arrotek’s Design Services organization. This role combines hands-on engineering execution with technical oversight of complex client programs, while also supervising and mentoring engineering staff. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineering consultant who thrives in a fee-for-service environment, excels at problem-solving, and enjoys developing high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision, mentoring, and performance management of engineering staff.
  • Lead mechanical and electromechanical design efforts, serving as technical authority for architecture, materials, processes, and risk mitigation.
  • Conduct design reviews, DFMEAs, and technical problem-solving initiatives.
  • Act as senior technical interface to clients, supporting proposals and project scoping.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications – Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a fee-for-service medical device consultancy or contract manufacturing environment.
  • Proven supervisory and mentoring experience.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of FDA and ISO 13485 design controls.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, PDM, GD&T, and DFM/DFA.

Qualifications – Preferred

  • Experience with disposable surgical, interventional, and handheld electromechanical medical devices.
  • Exposure to manufacturing transfer and validation processes.
  • Background in proposal development and client engagement.
