Under general supervision, the Exercise Physiologist supervises and monitors Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase II and III. Designs exercise prescription and develops fitness programs for patients referred to Cardiac Rehabilitation. Instructs patients and families in home exercise programs.
Responsibilities
Â
Clinical contact with patients in the adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups
Ability to appropriately assess, care for and treat patients according to the age-appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant Healthcare
Designs and implements exercise programs through a safe and accurate exercise prescription for any cardiac patient or others referred to Cardiac Rehabilitation
Instructs new patients for rehabilitation and explains exercise guidelines for a safe, productive home exercise program
Teaches interdepartmental classes relating to health and exercise example: Diabetic Education Program, Healthy Shape-Up, etc.
If necessary, teaches community classes or works on community projects affiliated with the hospital pertaining to health and exercise
Accumulates information on rehabilitation patients and evaluates his or her condition and fitness level to periodically inform the physician or their patients progress while in Cardiac Rehabilitation
Exhibits knowledge of current Cardiac Rehabilitation-related issues and participates in education programs to increase competency and met personal needs and goals
Ensures work areas are clean, orderly and stocked
Communicates with the physician under direction of the RN
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Health & Fitness or Exercise Physiology
BLS Healthcare Provider
Experience In related field 6 Months Required.

Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with public, patients and coworkers
