Summary:
Accountable for managing plant production activities across multiple shifts and/or departments to produce products that meet established quality, food safety, customer service, safety, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies. Implements standard work and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor, implementing autonomous maintenance. Oversees the production of quality products to fulfill customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability.
Primary Duties: Â
- Supervises activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation to ensure continuous production operations. Participates in development of preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering department. Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

- Lead technical support for packaging requirements of new products and package driven projects. Plan, research, organize, and implement project work. Lead projects from concept to completion. Interact and communicate with team members from various functions i.e., Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Regulatory, Finance, Engineering, Co-Pack and Legal. Solve technical hurdles and issues as they relate to packaging. Communicate project status and findings to Senior management. Act and is recognized as an expert in the field.

- Oversees the production and shipment of quality products to fulfill customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability.

- Maintain cost effective programs and practices that are consistent with plants.

- Lead and direct packaging technology innovation. Identify and implement opportunities to drive business growth via new and improved packing and material technologies. Leverage vendor base as a resource network for new opportunities for business growth. Remain current in understanding new technologies and products that could be used for current and new business opportunities. Build collaborative relationships with current and new vendor base.

- Communication & Business Support – Communicate and manage specific enterprise initiatives as they pertain to the Packing Department.

- Maintain compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, quality specifications, safety standards and sanitation practices.

- Motivate and enhance skills of direct reports and associates

Qualifications: Â
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent combination of work experience and education
- 3+ years flour industry experience or equivalent
- 1+ years supervisory experience or equivalent
- Detail oriented
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work in high places
- Willing and able to be on call for any plant related issuesÂ
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in package technology required.
- Demonstrated capability to use new technology to significantly improve profitability, product quality and/or manufacturing complexity issues.
- Formal training in safety methods in a plant environment.
