The Benefits Admin is a dual role that works in the settings of medical health plan administration, workers’ compensation, absence/leave management, health management, and across multiple product lines who will perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the department to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization in support of case management.
They will also perform claims administration for all leave management to include continuous, intermittent, reduced and other required leave administration in compliance with federal/state regulations and client specific required leave requirements.
The Benefits Admin will carry out short term disability and leave administration for specific leave types and non-complex disability diagnoses in accordance with client specific plan documents and policies. This position is eligible for work from home.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for administrative duties including, but not limited to department phone calls, faxes, voicemails, mailings, managing the filing system, problem solving, invoices and other clerical duties for the department.
- Communicates with clients both written and verbally to assist with requests and provide technical support.
- Obtain, record, and compile data and information to support all functions of case management.
- Assist with coordination of health management services with vendors, clients, and other internal team members including preparing and modifying documents.
- Completes outbound calls in support of leave administration and case management division.
- Independently administers various leaves, including but not limited to; FMLA, Non-FMLA Medical leave, intermittent family member leave, employee serious health conditions, and family member serious health condition leave.
- Determine leave eligibility including calculating allowed benefit hours, completing Eligibility Notice and Rights & Responsibilities within 2-5 days.
- Provides employees and family member medical certifications. Independently interpret completed certifications and evaluates if requirements are met using predetermined protocol.
- Completes absence assignments
- Requests authentication and/or clarification for incomplete or insufficient medical certifications in compliance with Depart of Labor Family Medical Leave regulations.
- Completes and Communicates Designation Notice within 3-5 Business days of having the necessary information go making the determination via email and mail to employee and required employer contacts in compliance with regulations and protocols.
- Handles short term disability claims coding, data integrity and administration for specific levels of claims determining disability approval and benefits along with concurrent leave management. •
Required Qualifications:
- Degree or experience in Leave Benefits Administration
- Strong Computer skills and knowledge of relevant software
- Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems such as filing and record keeping.
- Knowledge of operation of standard office equipment
- Microsoft Excel & Word skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Highly meticulous with exceptional prioritization and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of equivalent experience
- Medical terminology and insurance experience
- Certified Leave Management Specialist and willingness to pursue
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range is $49,000 - $56,000 annually. Starting pay is typically targeted around the midpoint of the appropriate band, based on relevant experience, skills, and internal equity.
