The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate material takeoffs, cost estimates, and project proposals based on construction plans, specifications, and customer requirements. This role works closely with sales, operations, vendors, and customers to ensure estimates are complete, competitive, and aligned with project objectives. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do:
Estimating & Takeoff Preparation
- Review construction plans, specifications, and project documentation to prepare accurate material takeoffs and estimates
- Develop detailed estimates, quotations, and project proposals for residential, commercial, and multifamily projects
- Verify quantities, material requirements, and pricing to ensure estimate accuracy
- Present estimates in various formats to support customer and sales needs
Project & Customer Support
- Support sales teams with pricing, product selection, and estimating expertise
- Communicate with customers, vendors, contractors, and internal teams regarding project requirements and estimate details
- Assist with customer presentations, project reviews, and estimate revisions
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing, product information, and technical support
Documentation & Workflow Management
- Maintain accurate estimate logs, project records, and status updates
- Monitor estimate backlogs and workload to ensure timely project completion
- Manage project documentation and maintain organized records
- Utilize estimating software and business systems to maintain efficiency and accuracy
Product Knowledge & Market Awareness
- Maintain current knowledge of products, building materials, market conditions, and industry trends
- Stay informed on vendor offerings, pricing changes, and new product developments
- Participate in industry events, trade associations, and educational opportunities as appropriate
Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with sales, operations, purchasing, and design teams
- Support training and knowledge sharing within the department
- Identify opportunities to improve estimating processes and operational efficiency
Safety & Compliance
- Support company safety initiatives and promote safe work practices
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Perform additional duties as assigned

- Vocational training, associate degree, or equivalent experience in estimating, construction, or related field
- Primarily office-based work environment
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Occasional site visits may be required to gather project information and measurements
- Ability to lift and move office materials and equipment as needed
- May require extended hours based on project deadlines and business needs
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on business unit needs
