This position partners cross-functionally with internal engineering, manufacturing teams, and external customers to drive quality at every stage-from concept through production. The NPI Quality Engineer will focus on risk identification and mitigation, process validation, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance with customer and industry standards.
In this role, you will be heavily involved in developing and improving quality systems, conducting root cause investigations, and supporting qualification activities. You will act as a key contributor in maintaining adherence to ISO and AS9100 standards while helping to build scalable, robust processes that support Ichor’s rapid growth.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, is comfortable working independently, and enjoys collaborating with both internal stakeholders and customers to resolve complex quality challenges.
Specific Job Duties:
- Develop and implement risk mitigation tools including PFMEA, Process Flow Diagrams, and Inspection Plans
- Support qualification activities such as PPAP, FAI, and FAIR (AS9102)
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts (8D, 5 Whys, CAPA)
- Analyze returned products and generate detailed failure analysis reports
- Apply statistical process control methods to monitor and improve processes
- Collaborate with customer Quality and NPI Engineering teams
- Participate in development and implementation of quality assurance standards
- Prepare and present reports summarizing quality performance and activities
- Work independently with minimal supervision

Position Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Skills:
- 5+ years of quality engineering or related experience
- Experience with test strategy development, planning, and execution
- Knowledge of ISO and AS9100 standards
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies (8D, CAPA, 5 Whys)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Understanding of statistical process control techniques
- Experience with Agile systems preferred
- ASQ Certification (CQE, CQA) preferred
For candidates based in Minnesota: The pay range for this position is $86,300 – $130,000 per year.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure, and relevant education or training.
