About the Role:

Our Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. This role requires expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and process control systems, while supporting preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a day shift position with a Monday – Friday schedule typically from 7:00am to 3:00pm (on call rotation every other weekend).

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on manufacturing equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and process control systems
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics
  • Repair and replace defective components to minimize downtime
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Document maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment failures using a CMMS
  • Utilize electrical testing and measurement instruments for diagnostics
  • Possess the knowledge and understanding of industrial wiring and 3 phase/480 Volts
  • Knowledge in A/C and D/C motors and controls
  • Maintain facility support systems, including chillers, compressed air systems, and resin delivery equipment
  • Fabricate parts and perform equipment modifications as needed
  • Operate machine shop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and welding equipment
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
  • Proficient in operating machine shop equipment: Milling machines, Lathes, Welding, Surface Grinders, Drill press, Band Saw

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with industrial electrical systems, including 3-phase/480V power
  • Understanding PLCs, motors, controls, and process control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
  • Arc and/or MIG welding experience required
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment; specifically, extrusion equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods and perform bending, climbing, and lifting activities
  • Work at heights up to 20 feet using lifts
  • Work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to hot equipment
  • Mandatory “on call” rotation every other weekend

Compensation Information:

The hourly range for a Maintenance Technician is $32.00 to $36.00.  The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this pay range is for a successful candidate in the Chicagoland area.  The specific hiring rate within the posted range will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
